Ten Leppers

Image
As you sit down for your Bible time, give your children snack. Be sure to praise them if they say, “Thank You.”  Today we are going to learn about someone who said thank you and some people who didnt Explain how leprosy was a very bad disease. People who had it could not be near people who didn’t. They lived in special places away from other people. It’s likely that your child has recently lived through isolation due to COVID-19. Share how people with leprosy also had to quarantine themselves from the community, sometime for the rest of their lives. Speak about how it feels to be away from people you love. Read Luke 17:11-19 from your child’s Bible. Ask your child to hold their hand up and count their fingers. Each finger represents one of the lepers who asked Jesus to heal them. Share how they asked Jesus for mercy and He healed all ten of them. Jesus showed mercy to these men, but only one came back to say, “Thank you.”  Have your child hold both hands up again but wit...

Parable of workers in vineyard

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUfU_0tQ9Xk     Watch the story Talk about what feels fair and what feels unfair - if your brother or sister gets more sweets than you do etc Was the man in the story unfair to pay everyone the same?  No he was super kind to the people who had only done a little bit of work.   Tell the kids that its the same way with believing in Jesus.  Some people have believed in Him for all their lives and some people only start to believe in him when they are very old and they are near to death.  But that doesnt matter to God, He is just super happy when people believe in Him and He promises that we can go to heaven even if we have only believed for a little bit of time. Activity - colouring page Make a watch to remind us of the story - that God loves us all the time and that He treats us all the same if we have loved Him for a short time or a long time.

parable of talents

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkXefIKb5qE     Watch here This is quite a tricky one.  Talk about the fact that God gives us good things all the time.  Everything we have comes from God.  Get the kids to tell you some of their favourite toys/pets/people.   Remind them that they are very blessed because lots of boys and girls in the world dont have all of the things that we have.   Remind them that it is always good to say thank you to God for our food and our houses and our families and all our toys and 'stuff'. God also gives us talents - things we are good at.  Some of us might be able to speak a different language (ask the kids cos we def have one or two who do)  Some of us can run fast or draw really well or can sing beautifully - all these things are talents.  They are things we love to do, we practice and get better at and we do well. In the story the man gave his workers money.  This is like God when He give...
