Watch the Saddleback kids version of the story here    video Ask the child what a miracle is. Explain that a miracle is something that is not explainable by normal means, but happens through intervention from God. Talk about how Jesus made wine from water. Ask if this was a miracle or not? You may choose to list some things and ask if they would be a miracle. Get a clear pitcher and fill it with water. Ask the child if they think you can make it into juice. You may have fun with this and ask the child if talking to it or singing to it will make the water become juice. Next, pull out a juice mix, add, and stir. Talk about how you are making juice by using a juice mix. Ask the child if that is a miracle. Point out that it is not. Then ask if Jesus making the water into wine was a miracle.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkXefIKb5qE     Watch here This is quite a tricky one.  Talk about the fact that God gives us good things all the time.  Everything we have comes from God.  Get the kids to tell you some of their favourite toys/pets/people.   Remind them that they are very blessed because lots of boys and girls in the world dont have all of the things that we have.   Remind them that it is always good to say thank you to God for our food and our houses and our families and all our toys and 'stuff'. God also gives us talents - things we are good at.  Some of us might be able to speak a different language (ask the kids cos we def have one or two who do)  Some of us can run fast or draw really well or can sing beautifully - all these things are talents.  They are things we love to do, we practice and get better at and we do well.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUfU_0tQ9Xk     Watch the story Talk about what feels fair and what feels unfair - if your brother or sister gets more sweets than you do etc Was the man in the story unfair to pay everyone the same?  No he was super kind to the people who had only done a little bit of work.   Tell the kids that its the same way with believing in Jesus.  Some people have believed in Him for all their lives and some people only start to believe in him when they are very old and they are near to death.  But that doesnt matter to God, He is just super happy when people believe in Him and He promises that we can go to heaven even if we have only believed for a little bit of time.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZEO_Ls2ERs     Saddleback kids video Talk about the story.   If you want to be creative bring in a shallow tray with soil in it and make four different sorts of ground using small stones, compacted soil,  weeds and good soil.  'Sow' some seed ( theres grass seed and a bird in the pack) Activities in the pack include a heart to decorate ( make my heart good ground)  a maze , spot the difference and colouring the different sorts of plants.

21st June Fathers Day

  God in three persons The bible tells us that before there was anything, there was God.  But God isnt just one person He is three people!   God the Father - God the Son, Jesus - God the Holy Spirit.  This is a bit hard to understand so today we are going to be looking at what it means that God is three people. 1. Show an egg and ask what it is.   The whole thing is called an egg.  But when we break it ( do so) we discover that its made up of three different things.  The shell, the yolk and the white.  Separate the yolk from the white in a bowl.  The shell is like God the Father - it holds everything together and it protects what is inside.  The white is like the Holy Spirit.  It doesnt look very interesting but it protects the yolk and its the part of the egg thats really good for making things ( like cakes and meringues )  The yolk is like Jesus.  It is good for us, it looks perfect, it tastes great.  ...

14th June Wise and foolish builders

  Today we are going to listen to a story that Jesus told to His friends.  Jesus liked stories.  Do you like stories?  Which is your favourite?   This is a story about two people who were builders.  Lets listen to what Jesus has to say https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6S3cRVLMFQ&t=8s This is what happened to the people who built their houses. One man built his house on a rock ( get some lego already made into a house shape and place it on a brick or large stone on a tray.)  One man built his house on the sand ( put another lego house on a pile of sand on the tray)   When it rained lots and was stormy look what happened.  Pour water into the tray and watch the pile of sand disappear and the house float.  Oh dear.  How do you think this man felt about his house being ruined?  Sad yes and may be a bit cross that he hadnt done a good job of building his house. April 26th Good Shepherd

 ) talk time -  what did we do this week 2)   Before EASTER we were learning about Jesus.  We learned that He came as a baby,  He had a family and He went to school and grew up just like we do.  We learned that Jesus came to show us what God is like.  As a grown up Jesus did lots of wonderful things.  He looked after people and was kind.  He made sick people better and even made dead people come alive again.   Today we are going to look at one of the things Jesus said.  He said some very interesting things which are important.
