parable of talents

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkXefIKb5qE    Watch here

This is quite a tricky one.  Talk about the fact that God gives us good things all the time.  Everything we have comes from God.  Get the kids to tell you some of their favourite toys/pets/people.   Remind them that they are very blessed because lots of boys and girls in the world dont have all of the things that we have.   Remind them that it is always good to say thank you to God for our food and our houses and our families and all our toys and 'stuff'.

God also gives us talents - things we are good at.  Some of us might be able to speak a different language (ask the kids cos we def have one or two who do)  Some of us can run fast or draw really well or can sing beautifully - all these things are talents.  They are things we love to do, we practice and get better at and we do well.

In the story the man gave his workers money.  This is like God when He gives us things.  He gives some people lots and He gives other people not so much but God knows what we need and so He gives us what we need every time.   The two people who got lots of money went and used it.  They worked hard to make sure that they ended up with more than they started with.  And the boss was pleased.  Just like God is pleased when He gives us a gift like maybe an instrument or a football and we practice and practice and work hard until we can play really well.   That makes God happy.   But the third man didnt do anything with his money.  He buried it in the ground.  And that made the boss sad.    When God gives us things - our houses and our food and our friends and all the great stuff in our lives He doesnt want us to hide them and pretend we dont have them!  He wants us to tell our friends how great God is and how kind He has been to us.  He wants us to use all the things we have to bless people and show people what God is like.  That is why its good to share.  And good to give presents.  It shows people that God is kind and nice.
