  God in three persons The bible tells us that before there was anything, there was God.  But God isnt just one person He is three people!   God the Father - God the Son, Jesus - God the Holy Spirit.  This is a bit hard to understand so today we are going to be looking at what it means that God is three people. 1. Show an egg and ask what it is.   The whole thing is called an egg.  But when we break it ( do so) we discover that its made up of three different things.  The shell, the yolk and the white.  Separate the yolk from the white in a bowl.  The shell is like God the Father - it holds everything together and it protects what is inside.  The white is like the Holy Spirit.  It doesnt look very interesting but it protects the yolk and its the part of the egg thats really good for making things ( like cakes and meringues )  The yolk is like Jesus.  It is good for us, it looks perfect, it tastes great.  ...

One man built his house on a rock ( get some lego already made into a house shape and place it on a brick or large stone on a tray.)  One man built his house on the sand ( put another lego house on a pile of sand on the tray)   When it rained lots and was stormy look what happened.  Pour water into the tray and watch the pile of sand disappear and the house float.  Oh dear.  How do you think this man felt about his house being ruined?  Sad yes and may be a bit cross that he hadnt done a good job of building his house.  ) talk time -  what did we do this week 2)   Before EASTER we were learning about Jesus.  We learned that He came as a baby,  He had a family and He went to school and grew up just like we do.  We learned that Jesus came to show us what God is like.  As a grown up Jesus did lots of wonderful things.  He looked after people and was kind.  He made sick people better and even made dead people come alive again.   Today we are going to look at one of the things Jesus said.  He said some very interesting things which are important.  Zacchaeus was a rich tax collector. He took more money from other people then he should. Nobody liked Zacchaeus. One day, Jesus visited Zacchaeus’ town. Zacchaeus was so short, he couldn’t see over the crowds. Nobody would let Zacchaeus near the front. Zacchaeus had a good idea. He climbed up a tree. Now he could see Jesus easily. Zacchaeus had a big surprise. When Jesus arrived at the tree, He told Zacchaeus to come down. Jesus wanted to go to Zacchaeus’ house. Zacchaeus changed his life after meeting Jesus.  Do you remember a few weeks ago we learned about Jesus's friend Thomas. He wasnt there when Jesus came back to life and appeared to all the disciples so he didnt really believe that Jesus was alive.  He had to see Jesus and touch Him so that He could believe.  Do you remember we wore sunglasses to show us that sometimes we cant see things but they are still there. Just like we cant see Jesus but He is there. Today we are going to learn about what happened next.     Jesus told His friends that He was going to go to heaven to be with God the Father.  How do you think the disciples felt? I think they were a bit sad. Jesus had died and been buried and they were very sad about that, then He was alive again and they were really excited and happy, but now Jesus said He was going to go away again and this time He wasnt coming back.  Oh dear.  Have you ever said goodbye to someone you werent going to see for a long time?  Its sad isnt it? There are several boxes of stuff in the church office which go with this programme   Remind your children that this story is a parable that Jesus taught to teach us some important lessons. Introduce the three main characters. There are three cut out figures -names on back. Dad and two sons. Prodigal has a happy side and a sad side. Share how the father loved his sons very much. Pick up the older brother and share how he was an excellent son. He obeyed the rules, worked hard, respected his father, and so on. Ask the kids to name other good things for children to do. Next, pick up the younger son. Explain that he was selfish and didn’t care about others. Ask the kids to name some selfish things to do. Show how the younger son asked his father to give him half of everything he owned so he could do what he wanted and never have to see his family again. Think about how this made the father feel?   ( This is going to be hard as pre-school kids cant really grasp abstract concepts too much yet) Talk time -  lets talk about our families.  Hands up if you have a brother. Hands up if you have grandparents.  Hands up if you have cousins.   Its nice to be part of a family isnt it?  Families come in all shapes and sizes.  Some families are really big ( any volunteers or helpers have a big family?)   Talk time   Does anyone know what our senses are?  We have five of them.  They are things our bodies can do which are really amazing.  Our senses are sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste.  Show me what you use to see.  What do we use to hear with?  What do we use to smell with?  What do you use to feel things with ( they will say hands but point out that we can feel with all areas of our bodies)   What do we use to taste things with?  Isnt it wonderful that God has made us with ears and eyes and noses and mouths so that we can experience things in the world around us.  Lets pray and thank Him for our bodies and pray for anyone who isnt feeling well.   Pray.
